Girl is Devoured. World blames the girl.

Girl wonders who this could happen to her.

Girl loses her mind, Girl gets angry.

Girl wants to be heard but every time she tells

someone, her voice feels coated with tar.

Girl feels the wound inside her grow.

Girl is afraid the wound will one day get

so big she will drown in it. Girl finally tells

someone and they ask what did she do to

ask for it. Girl doesn’t speak of it again.

Girl wonders if she deserved it. Girl tries

to forget. And tries to forget. And tries to forget.

But memories have teeth that become fangs.

And fangs have never learned how to let go.

Eventually she becomes a locked door.

Eventually she learns that she is no feast.

Eventually she learns that to devour is better

than to be devoured.

Eventually she becomes the wolf they fear.
