This photo was on a Fakebook page I like featuring vintage photos of New York City. It enrages me, using a woman as A FUCKING GOLF TEE. I commented that I found the photo sexist, stupid, and horrid, adding in my opinion because I too read Deborah Tanner’s You Just Don’t Understand back in the day and the group of followers is pretty groovy, civil and friendly, having set the tone I therefore follow. At least I didn’t get any of the usual pushback, ‘you cheerless feminists ruin the fun in everything’, but I’m not thankful for that, because men (mostly) behaving civilly should be the norm. Now, if you agree I am cheerless and overthinking shit, it’s VINTAGE, Moj, chillax – imagine for a moment the woman were replaced by a black boy or girl. Would that be okay? Or, for further reading on the subject, follow the links below for visual and prose evidence of contemporary uses of women’s body parts – often headless, always sexualized regardless of content. It’s enraging, and unacceptable.
